Personal Work

Hull Ice Hogs Graphic Design

During my final year of University, I sat on the committee for the University’s Ice Hockey Team where my main role was to organize fixtures for the team, and before each match, I would sort out the team sheet and game sheet that are required by the referee officials. Another one of my responsibilities during the role was to create posters and any other graphics needed for the social media page.

The First Attempt

This was my first opportunity at creating a graphic that was requested of me involving an away game against Sheffield that happened last year, before gaining my role on the committee. It was requested that both teams feature on the poster along with the time, date and location. As it was my first time creating a poster for a certain purpose, I experimented with a few different ideas but I eventually came up with this design which was simplistic and featured all the necessary information.

Leaflet & Poster

At the start of the year, I was tasked with creating a leaflet/poster for our fresher’s stall which included several pieces of information that would be self-explanatory that people could understand without needing to ask us. However, the main information that needed to be on the leaflet was our contact information in case people needed to contact us about any questions they might have about our club. One piece of feedback I received from the rest of the committee was that the background looked a little too plain. To solve this problem I originally textured the background much like the first poster I created in the photo above. However, when printed out, the text didn’t show up as well, therefore, I decided just to add a copyright-free silhouette of an ice hockey player which seemed to do the trick and still looked nice when printed out.

Committee Introductions

Next, I was tasked with introducing the committee members with individual posters like the example below.
